This role is for a Regional Sales Manager for the Great Lakes Region, including Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Western Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, possesses a positive attitude, integrity, strong business acumen, and exceptional communication skills. They should reside near a major airport and be comfortable with frequent regional and overnight travel. The position is responsible for driving territory growth, developing strategic customer relationships, expanding market share, and achieving sales objectives through a consultative, engineering-focused sales approach. Success is measured by revenue growth, new business development, customer retention, distributor engagement, and converting opportunities into long-term partnerships. The role involves helping engineers, OEMs, machine builders, system integrators, and automation solution providers solve complex motion and mechanical design challenges by providing consultative engineering support and application-focused solutions. The ideal candidate has strong technical aptitude, customer-facing sales skills, and enjoys collaborative problem-solving. They will work with engineering teams, integrators, and industrial manufacturers to identify application requirements, recommend motion solutions, and support projects from concept to implementation. This role is suited for individuals who enjoy technical discussions, application engineering, territory development, and building long-term customer relationships in the automation and motion control industry. Candidates must be comfortable discussing mechanical systems, motion technologies, product performance, environmental constraints, and system integration with technically sophisticated customers. They will act as a trusted technical resource for customers needing solutions for harsh, high-cycle, precision, washdown, or demanding industrial environments. Success requires understanding customer engineering challenges, translating needs into effective solutions, and communicating BW's technical and business value beyond price.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in technical sales, sales engineering, application engineering, industrial automation, motion control, or a related industrial market.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships and grow territory sales.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand technical applications and customer requirements.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned region, including frequent overnight travel.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel by air.
  • Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with linear motion, motion control, automation, robotics, machine design, or related technologies.
  • Experience working with OEMs, machine builders, system integrators, or industrial distributors.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and territory management practices.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and industrial automation applications.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing territory growth strategies to achieve sales and profitability objectives.
  • Identifying, qualifying, and pursuing new business opportunities within assigned markets and accounts.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with OEMs, machine builders, integrators, distributors, and end users.
  • Conducting application reviews and providing technical guidance to customers throughout the sales process.
  • Collaborating with internal engineering, customer service, and operations teams to deliver successful customer outcomes.
  • Maintaining an active sales pipeline, forecasting opportunities, and utilizing HubSpot CRM to manage customer engagement.
  • Representing the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings.
  • Supporting distributor development, training, and market expansion initiatives throughout the region.
