Today, Piedmont Plastics is currently hiring for a Regional Purchasing Agent (Unplanned Buyer). This individual will efficiently transact the purchases from suppliers and improve the financial health of the company’s inventory, by utilizing inventory available across the branch network. This position represents the company with the manufacturing community and branch network and is expected to act according to the organization’s values in all activities. This position maybe located in an area that there is currently a Piedmont Plastics branch.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of experience in the field of sales, customer service, administration, purchasing, or inventory management
  • Thorough understanding of all processes involved in ordering, receiving, and inventorying material and may need to train branch employees on these procedures
  • Outstanding customer service along with strong math skills
  • A positive attitude and a team player

Responsibilities

  • Work with Inside Sales Representatives and branch teams to expeditiously procure unplanned material
  • Accurately enter and maintain branch purchasing information in the company inventory system
  • Review supplier acknowledgements for accuracy
  • Update purchase orders, lead-times, pricing changes, etc., in the company inventory system
  • Work to minimize inbound freight costs from suppliers
  • Coordinate transfers between branches to minimize freight costs and share inventory
  • Review and transfer available inventory across the branch network to satisfy unplanned purchase requirements
  • Review branch inventory for accuracy and investigate and resolve discrepancies using the company inventory system, as needed
  • Proactively gather data and information on preferred suppliers and their current pricing, lead-times, rebates, and freight policies
  • Assist salespeople in sourcing and quoting unplanned (non-stock) materials
  • Ensure that items are properly identified as Customer Specific Inventory (CSI) and analyze the monthly CSI Movement Report for usage, stocking level maintenance, and recommends actions for under-performing items
  • Maintain accurate records in the company inventory system for all purchasing related transactions including entering purchase orders, expediting orders, updating pricing, quantities and lead times, purchase order receiving, and the CSM and debit processes.
  • Support Supply Chain Managers, Regional Purchasing Managers, and Regional Buyers in the management and completion of planned inventory buying activities, as needed; covers for other Supply Chain Department employees, as necessary.
