About The Position

This allied health Regional Practice Initiatives Lead role will provide Professional Practice leadership for clinical counselling, psychotherapy and disciplines allied to social work (DASW) regionally as well as lead broad allied health initiatives in the Vancouver Community of Care. As a Regional Practice Initiatives Lead with Vancouver Coastal Health you will: Be responsible for promoting excellence and advancing autonomous professional practice relevant to the strategic direction of the organization. Work in close collaboration with the Community of Care (CoC) practice teams and other relevant internal/external stakeholders, the incumbent guides the application and standardization of practice standards, regulations and best practices within the organization. Provide leadership and expert consultative advice on scope of practice, clinical informatics, resource planning and research to enhance the practice environments and achieve effective and efficient quality of care. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in an Allied Health discipline supplemented with three (3) to five (5) year’s recent, related leadership experience in a complex health care environment including professional practice, clinical informatics, program planning, education, facilitation and project leadership or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current practicing registration in the recognized provincial college or professional association.
  • Demonstrated Clinical Informatics experience.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Promoting excellence and advancing autonomous professional practice relevant to the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Guiding the application and standardization of practice standards, regulations and best practices within the organization in close collaboration with Community of Care (CoC) practice teams and other relevant internal/external stakeholders.
  • Providing leadership and expert consultative advice on scope of practice, clinical informatics, resource planning and research to enhance the practice environments and achieve effective and efficient quality of care.
  • Keeping quality in the forefront of all resource utilization decisions and providing knowledgeable input into the planning and resources allocation for Service(s)/Program(s) within VCH.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.
  • Practicing the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.
  • Facilitating, collaborating and negotiating for effective resolution of practice issues.
  • Keeping informed about evolving trends and practices, sharing knowledge and supporting Allied Health staff to integrate evidence-based practice in the delivery of quality care/services.
  • Fostering collaborative and effective working relationships to support the professional practice and ongoing development of staff and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
  • Extensive experience/base in clinical practice document/protocol development and implementation.
  • Extensive understanding of Health Professions Act and regulatory college framework that guide allied health professional standards.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
