About The Position

The Regional Outcomes Specialist is a field-based role serving a small cluster of priority shelters in the Texas Panhandle. The specialist provides direct operational support to help shelters overcome barriers, expand transfer and adoption pathways, and strengthen community partnerships. The primary objective is to help assigned shelters achieve and sustain a 90% or higher save rate through operational support, community capacity building, and proven lifesaving strategies. Working closely with Best Friends’ regional team and shelter leadership, the specialist will help establish support systems, written processes, partner networks, local champions, and volunteer leaders that shelters can maintain independently after the pilot. The role is based in the Texas Panhandle, and the candidate must live in the region. Regular in-person travel across the shelter cluster is required, including occasional overnight travel. The position reports to the Senior Strategist for the South Central region and is an initial eight-month fixed-term contract, with possible renewal based on program needs and performance. The annual salary is $59,000, paid bi-weekly.
