About The Position

The Regional Operations Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the Category Management team at LV Petroleum by optimizing operational performance across assigned regions. This position focuses on driving efficiency in product categories, ensuring seamless execution of category strategies, vendor management, inventory optimization, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards in the downstream petroleum sector. The specialist acts as a key liaison between corporate category strategy and field operations, identifying opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and revenue growth while maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in operations, category management, or supply chain within the petroleum, energy, retail fuel, or wholesale distribution industry.
  • Strong understanding of downstream petroleum operations, including fuel terminals, convenience retail, and product categories.
  • Proven track record of driving operational efficiency and achieving cost savings targets.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or other data visualization tools.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and inventory management software.
  • Ability to travel regionally (30-50% as needed).
  • High level of integrity and commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor category management strategies at the regional level, including product assortment, pricing execution, and promotional activities for fuel and non-fuel categories.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales volume, gross margin, inventory turnover, and supplier performance. Prepare regular reports and dashboards for the Director of Category Management.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with regional suppliers, distributors, and service providers. Negotiate local terms, resolve supply chain issues, and ensure on-time delivery and product quality.
  • Oversee regional inventory levels, demand forecasting, and replenishment processes to minimize stockouts and excess inventory while reducing carrying costs.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and lead or support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma principles) across terminals, retail sites, and distribution networks.
  • Ensure all regional operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations, company policies, and industry standards for hazardous materials handling and environmental protection.
  • Work closely with Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing, and Field Operations teams to align category goals with regional business needs.
  • Conduct site visits, audits, and training sessions to support retail partners, dealers, and internal teams on category best practices and operational procedures.
  • Assist in developing and managing regional operating budgets related to category activities.
  • Monitor regional market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to provide actionable insights to the Director of Category Management.
