About The Position

The Regional Manager, Project Accounting is responsible for designing, implementing and enforcing policies and procedures for the company's billing and revenue cycle to maximize cash flow while maintaining and improving internal and external customer relations within their region. Additionally, will develop and implement process improvements within the project accounting group. In conjunction with other finance staff, the Regional Manager, Project Accounting will oversee day-to-day operations on all issues related to project life cycle from project set up through project close out process, Accounts Receivables, and unbilled projects. Additionally, the Regional Manager, Project Accounting will evaluate project performance and provide analysis to project managers, finance department, and other operational management groups. This position is highly visible and requires a strong leader with the ability to prioritize, plan, and direct a project accounting team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field desired, CPA preferred
  • A minimum of seven years of progressive finance, analysis, and leadership experience required, with a minimum of three years of direct supervisory experience
  • Prior experience with Oracle or another project-based ERP system preferred
  • Experience with RevPro, and/or Blackline preferred
  • Experience in assessing and implementing process improvements utilizing continuous improvement or other tools to track measurable results
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Advanced skill level using Excel and proficiency in all other Microsoft products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence others
  • Comfortable presenting information to all levels of the company
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; must be accurate and detail oriented
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Strong focus on continuous improvement with a proven track record for improving process efficiencies and solving problems

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve new project setups, ensuring correct contract terms, billing terms, budgets, and cost codes are entered into the ERP Oracle system
  • Monitor project status from initiation through closeout, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and company policy
  • Oversee final project reconciliations and closeout documentation
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of customer invoices
  • Review and approve revenue recognition calculations (e.g., percentage-of-completion) in accordance with GAAP/company policy
  • Monitor and manage unbilled receivables driving reduction of aged unbilled balances
  • Partner with project managers to resolve billing discrepancies, contract change orders, and client disputes
  • Assist collections efforts and reduce AR aging
  • Provide cash flow forecasting input based on project billing schedules and collection trends
  • Prepare and present project performance reports to project managers and operations leadership
  • Analyze project profitability trends and flag risks or variances to budget/forecast
  • Drive month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and audit support
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards to track project accounting team performance and project health
  • Identify and implement process efficiencies within project accounting workflows, including system/tool enhancements
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, contract compliance, and audit requirements
  • Maintain and update project accounting policies and procedures documentation
  • Support ERP or billing system implementations/upgrades as needed
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and manage performance of the project accounting team within the region
  • Prioritize and assign workload across the team to meet close deadlines and reporting cycles
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and professional development planning
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with project managers, operations, and corporate finance
  • Serve as a key point of contact for client billing inquiries and dispute resolution
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with project managers to align on project financial status
  • Communicate regional project accounting performance to senior finance and operations leadership
