About The Position

Minnesota Oncology is seeking a Regional Laboratory Supervisor to support laboratory teams in Woodbury, Maplewood, and Hudson (WI). This role is responsible for the efficient operation of a moderate or high complexity laboratory facility, ensuring accurate and timely testing procedures and compliance with applicable regulations. The incumbent will also manage assigned laboratory staff and participate in site-specific daily operations, communications, and patient flow, while adhering to the US Oncology Compliance Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in high-complexity medical laboratory testing
  • ASCP or equivalent certification

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years previous supervisory experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Acts as working general supervisor for the laboratory, performing routine and complex tests as needed.
  • Supervises laboratory personnel, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance evaluation, and scheduling.
  • Establishes and monitors quality assurance, quality control, proficiency testing, and routine maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Establishes and monitors policies and procedures for overall testing performance, including test method selection, evaluation, validation, and procedure manual maintenance.
  • Reviews patient test results, quality control, proficiency testing, and maintenance records, ensuring corrective actions are taken before results are reported.
  • Maintains awareness of and compliance with state and federal regulations regarding laboratory operations, licensing, and OSHA/safety regulations.
  • Orders supplies and equipment, evaluating new equipment and reagents for technical suitability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Performs cost analysis on major equipment purchases and recommends pricing for tests and services.
  • Interfaces with other disciplines to ensure a smoothly functioning and efficient operation.
  • Maintains a clean working environment and restocks the laboratory area.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient and medical staff information.
  • Assists management in budgeting, cost analysis, marketing, and managed care contracts.
  • Participates in site-specific daily operations, communications, and patient flow.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of applicable labor laws.
