About The Position

The Regional General Manager will lead the region with full P&L accountability for the home location and two satellite locations. This role involves developing and executing a regional growth strategy, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring consistent management processes, safety standards, and quality expectations across the region. The position also requires overseeing short-duration projects, supporting the sales bid process, and coordinating with customers and internal teams to ensure project success. The Regional General Manager will serve as the escalation point for customer disputes and participate in various meetings to provide updates and drive accountability.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with plumbing or mechanical systems, service, maintenance, or sales, preferably in a managerial position.
  • Experience with pumps, municipal process equipment, and/or municipal/industrial field services.
  • Demonstrated career progression within a business or industry, ideally with exposure to two or more functional areas (e.g., sales, engineering, operations, or service).
  • Humility, openness to change and leading change.
  • Interest in learning and growing.
  • Sense of urgency - bias towards taking action.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep experience in water and wastewater management, groundwater wells, contracting, construction, or industrial service industries preferred.
  • Technical or business-related college degree, relevant trade school certifications or demonstrated success earned from on-the-job experience preferred.
  • MBA is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) systems or construction/contracting experience with pumps, and motor control knowledge.
  • Proficient with typical Microsoft office and Adobe.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the region with full P&L accountability for the home location and two satellite locations, including annual budgets, forecasts, and performance reporting to executive leadership.
  • Develop and execute a regional growth strategy that leverages existing customer relationships across all three locations.
  • Serve as the primary sales leader by maintaining clear visibility into the pipeline and proactively driving the team to build pipeline, follow up on opportunities, and close business in order to meet or exceed region goals.
  • Oversee daily operations at the home location while directing and supporting the managers and teams at both satellite locations, visiting regularly to lead meetings, coach leaders, and build local customer relationships.
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain technically competent leaders and field staff who meet and exceed customer requirements, earning their trust and cooperation.
  • Establish consistent management processes, safety standards, and quality expectations across the region, including regular safety training and compliance with safety, licensing, insurance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review job costs, productivity, margins, and backlog at each location, take corrective action where results miss targets, and allocate people and equipment across locations to balance workload and meet customer commitments.
  • Partner with senior leadership to drive regional growth and profitability by proactively developing and presenting location plans, incorporating feedback and company priorities, and taking full ownership for its execution and results.
  • Direct and support site functional areas while effectively partnering with Shared Services to ensure priorities are aligned, key issues are addressed, and company initiatives are successfully executed.
  • Actively and consistently engage in key meetings, set priorities, and hold teams accountable for execution.
  • Be a leader among the PumpMan leadership team by actively engaging, sharing insights, and providing meaningful input on company-wide priorities and initiatives, both in Leadership Team meetings and beyond.
  • Oversee short-duration projects based on approved proposals, including planned maintenance and the removal and replacement of pumps, controls, piping systems, and related components for domestic water and wastewater pumping systems, developing schedules and timelines as needed.
  • Attend job walks and meet with customers, in support of sales, estimators and operations to gather the information needed, and work with estimators and planned maintenance teams to ensure the full scope is captured in each estimate and proposal as needed.
  • Support sales with the bid process by assembling forms, material data, bonds, insurance documents, and transmittals by each deadline, and send and follow up on proposals where warranted.
  • Coordinate with customers, sales, dispatch, purchasing, and finance to keep projects on scope and budget through punch lists, close-out documents, and timely invoicing.
  • Serve as the escalation point for customer disputes and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in operations, sales, and town hall meetings to provide status updates.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
