About The Position

Southbridge Care Homes provides exceptional acquisition, management, and redevelopment services for long-term care homes and retirement communities across Ontario. Reporting to the VP of Operational Excellence, The Regional Food Service Manager provides leadership, guidance, and operational support to home-level Food Service teams across multiple locations to ensure consistent delivery of safe, nutritious, and high-quality meals. This role supports compliance with regulatory standards and corporate policies through audits, training, and performance monitoring. Working collaboratively with Dietitian Consultants and home-level managers, the position drives continuous improvement in food service operations and enhances resident satisfaction. This position involves extensive travel to and from homes and may require over night stays from time to time. An active presence is required in all areas of nutrition and food service operations across multiple homes. Work hours are aligned to meet the operational requirements of the homes. The employee must be able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting. Interacts daily with residents, staff, and visitors, requiring professionalism, patience, and strong communication skills. At all times must follow infection control, food safety, and occupational health and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Current membership with the Canadian Society of Nutritional Management (C.S.N.M.) or the College of Dietitians of Ontario required.
  • Minimum 2 years dietary management experience in a long-term care setting.
  • Strong leadership skills to direct the work of employees.
  • Superb organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Experience managing employees within a unionized setting.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety practices, principles, and legislation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Customer-focused with a high emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with clients.
  • Flexibility to participate in the manager on-call rotation schedule. More information will be provided during the interview process.
  • A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of hire date.
  • Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and provide high-quality dietary services for residents of the facility.
  • Apply continuous quality improvement principles, best practices, and standardization to workflow, performance, production, and changes to service and dietary requirements to meet legislative requirements.
  • Select, supervise and motivate dietary staff; ensure dietary staff works as a team, ensure a high level of productivity and better use of staff capabilities.
  • Ensure the environment of all food preparation and storage areas meets Public Health requirements.
  • Maintain all records in accordance with policies, procedures, and legislative requirements, including the implementation and posting of all regular and therapeutic menus.
  • Liaise and consult with residents, families, team members, government officials, and professionals in relation to resident care needs and department activities
  • Participate in the budgeting process; be accountable for the departmental budget and food costs
  • Support the Environmental department with product ordering and general tasks.
