About The Position

The University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic welcomes applications for a Regional First-Year Admissions Counselor for the Madison/Milwaukee area. This position plays a very important role in the recruitment and outreach activities of the Admissions Office, with the goals of increasing the number of applicants and enrolling a talented and diverse student body. The staff member will meet with prospective students and their families, high school counselors, various groups on and off campus, alumni, and other contacts to promote educational opportunities. A significant part of the recruitment process will be establishing and nurturing relationships that can serve as a conduit for students to learn about UW-Stout Polytechnic. These staff members will collaborate with other Admissions Office staff members to coordinate recruitment activities. This position is a 12-month annual role and is fully remote, located in the Milwaukee/Madison Area. The candidate must be able to travel up to 75% of the time throughout the region and be willing and able to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed. The candidate must be authorized to work in the United States, as sponsorship is not available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (degree must be posted by hire date)
  • Previous experience in admissions, recruiting, sales, education, or other related fields
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent public speaking skills, including the ability to present information effectively to large and small groups
  • 1 year of professional experience
  • Willingness to travel
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

  • Strong organizational and event planning skills
  • Ability to be adaptable and manage multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to use and learn multiple computer technologies (such as Salesforce, Peoplesoft, Microsoft Office Suite, and Imaging Software)
  • Ability to speak fluently in a second language

Responsibilities

  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the Institution
  • Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement
  • Creates targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals
  • Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences
  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment, and admission
  • Engages in extensive outreach and recruitment events, representing the university to prospective students
  • Counsels prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities
  • May supervise staff and/or lead a program area
  • Reviews, evaluates, and responds to student applications according to established policies and procedures
  • Identifies opportunities for and develops admissions and outreach events
