About The Position

The University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic welcomes applications for a Regional First-Year Admissions Counselor for the Madison/Milwaukee area. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Admissions-Recruitment. This position plays a very important role in the recruitment and outreach activities of the Admissions Office. Our goals are to increase the number of applicants to the University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic and to enroll a talented and diverse student body. This staff member will meet with prospective students and their families, high school counselors, various groups on and off campus, alumni, and other contacts to promote educational opportunities offered at the University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic. A significant part of the recruitment process will be establishing and nurturing relationships that can serve as a conduit for students to learn about UW-Stout Polytechnic. These staff members will collaborate with other Admissions Office staff members to coordinate recruitment activities. This position is 12-month annual role. This is a fully remote position located in the Milwaukee/Madison Area. Candidate must be able and willing to travel up to 75% of the time throughout the region and be willing and able to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not available for this position. A successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (degree must be posted by hire date)
  • Previous experience in admissions, recruiting, sales, education, or other related fields
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent public speaking skills, including the ability to present information effectively to large and small groups
  • 1 year of professional experience
  • Willingness to travel
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies opportunities for and develops admissions and outreach events
  • Reviews, evaluates, and responds to student applications according to established policies and procedures
  • Counsels prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities
  • May supervise staff and/or lead a program area
  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment, and admission
  • Engages in extensive outreach and recruitment events, representing the university to prospective students
  • Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences
  • Creates targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals
  • Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the Institution
