About The Position

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is the premier grassroots organization focused on advocating solutions to the country’s greatest challenges. Americans for Prosperity is part of the Stand Together philanthropic community. We're looking for a Regional Field Manager who thinks and acts like an entrepreneur: someone who takes ownership, spots opportunities other people miss, and comes up with new ways to reach and mobilize people across Virginia. This role owns the full grassroots cycle in the Richmond area, recruiting volunteers and community leaders, training and supervising part-time canvassers and representing AFP in the community.

Requirements

An entrepreneurial mindset: you take initiative, try new approaches, and adjust quickly when something isn't working.
A track record in grassroots organizing, political campaigns, community organizing, or advocacy work.
Strong relationship-building and people skills, with genuine sales or customer-relationship instincts.
A comfortable communicator and collaborator who embraces feedback and works well with staff, volunteers, and coalition partners.
Comfort with basic administrative and compliance work and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Experience level: a background in field organizing, campaigns, or nonprofit advocacy.
A valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Richmond, as needed.

Nice To Haves

People-management experience is a plus, not a requirement.
A history of identifying new opportunities and turning them into measurable growth, whether in a volunteer program, coalition, or community organization.
Familiarity with Virginia's political, community, and public policy landscape.
Experience managing part-time staff, contractors, or volunteer teams.

Responsibilities

Recruit, train, and grow a base of active, productive volunteers, prioritizing people from outside your existing network.
Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, advocacy groups, and people with local political influence, and use them to inform strategy.
Supervise part-time canvassing contractors and, where applicable, Grassroots Coordinators, including training, coaching, and performance.
Represent AFP publicly: communicate well one-on-one and to large groups, create content, and speak knowledgeably to our policy positions.
Handle the practical side of running a region, including budget, equipment, expense reports, and general legal compliance.
Design and run creative outreach, canvassing, phone, digital, events, and coalition building, that grows AFP's footprint in new Virginia communities.
