About the Advertising & Innovative Marketing (AIM) Ad Group The AIM Ad Group serves ~1300 of AWG’s member stores as the strategic conduit between AWG teams and vendor partners, driving collaborative planning and execution of growth ‑ focused promotions and omnichannel marketing programs. Grounded in strong Category Management strategies, AIM develops and delivers impactful marketing initiatives designed to enhance sales, strengthen vendor partnerships, and elevate the shopper experience across AWG’s diverse retail network. Job Summary Based in AWG’s Kansas City Support Center, the AIM Regional Assistant is responsible for supporting competitive advertising programs for AWG and our Advertising & Innovative Marketing (AIM) member‑retailers. This role may collaborate with vendors and internal AWG teams to secure the most competitive product costs, promotional investments, TPRs, and EDLC opportunities that will be featured in AWG’s weekly print and digital advertising. A core responsibility of this position is to support its direct AIM Regional Manager while working closely with the broader AIM Team, AWG Category Management, Merchandising, Marketing, and division teams. The AIM Regional Assistant will also facilitate internal ad program support, including but not limited to, reporting, billing, deal management, member and team communication. This individual must be a self-starter, unafraid to ask questions, with a desire to grow and bring insight into the base requirements of the role. Limited travel may be required for industry events, AWG food shows, division visits, and vendor partner meetings.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in administrative support, marketing coordination, merchandising support, or a related business role.
  • Experience working in a matrixed, team‑oriented environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word); experience with reporting tools a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and details with accuracy.
  • Self‑starter mindset with a willingness to ask questions, learn quickly, and take initiative.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and with external partners.
  • Detail‑oriented problem solver who can identify issues and escalate appropriately.
  • Collaborative team player who supports shared goals and demonstrates flexibility in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Interest in retail, advertising, merchandising, and continuous professional growth within AWG.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and administrative support for AIM regional advertising programs, ensuring timely and accurate execution of weekly print and digital ads.
  • Serve as a key support partner to the AIM Regional Manager by assisting with program coordination, deal setup, reporting, and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate cross ‑ functionally with AIM, Category Management, Merchandising, Marketing, and division teams to support advertising and promotional strategies.
  • Assist in vendor and internal coordination efforts to help support competitive product costs, promotional funding, Temporary Price Reductions (TPRs), and Every Day Low Cost (EDLC) initiatives.
  • Facilitate end ‑ to ‑ end ad program support, including reporting, billing accuracy, deal management, and documentation.
  • Support clear, professional communication with internal teams and AWG member retailers regarding advertising programs, deadlines, and program requirements.
  • Maintain organized records, trackers, and systems to support departmental processes and audit readiness.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute ideas to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the AIM function.
  • Participate in limited travel related to industry events, AWG food shows, division visits, and vendor partner meetings as needed.
