About The Position

The Region Manager - Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) provides strategic and operational leadership to safeguard the health, safety, and business continuity of two dynamic business groups. This high-impact role oversees a diverse workforce of approximately 5,000 employees across two business groups, featuring a large mobile phlebotomy / health data collection team of 3,000 professionals working throughout the United States and a small group in Canada. The Regional Manager will champion a culture of safety by collaborating with key organizational leaders and EHS peers. Key responsibilities include ensuring safe working conditions, consultation and training, injury investigations, workers' compensation management, business continuity, and leadership of two EHS professionals. Success requires strong business partnership skills, deep EHS expertise, a continuous improvement mindset, and alignment with Quest leadership behavior frameworks of Develop our People, be customer Obsessed, Think Lean, Adapt with Agility, Embrace Technology, and Lead with Empathy. This is a hybrid-based role based in Lenexa, KS – will consider highly skilled talent living elsewhere in the U.S.

Requirements

  • Experience with managing complex programs with accountability for measured outcomes; knowledge of lab, branch, logistics and facility operations; working knowledge of EHS related government regulations and industry standards

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Safe Employee Behaviors
  • Direct, advocate and enable visibility, value and accountability…. Between all levels of management and every employee for a geographic region (New England, etc.)
  • Create meaningful monthly communications and periodic promotions to foster continuous improvement in EHS processes and outcomes.
  • Solicit input from others, develop lessons learned and other communications based on feedback
  • Conduct, develop and oversee effective training programs, including those for new employees, annual retraining, function and dept specific.
  • Define and Communicate Best “Training” practices including online, internet, Web ex, Net Meeting, face to face etc.
  • Create and sustain mgt processes for multiple lines of business to proactively prevent, minimize or control potential risk of new construction, equipment and processes.
  • Manage Employee Injuries to Minimize Loss
  • Receive and ensure accurate completion of accident and injury reports; ensure thorough root cause analysis and correction of deficiencies contributing to injury, including recommendation of discipline for noncompliance; manages data input and quality control of data.
  • Partner with Travelers and or other WC TPA’s to ensure robust claims management.
  • Make recommendations to Travelers, WC attorneys and DGX resources on problematic and litigated claims.
  • Ensure all high value claims are review on a regular basis.
  • Manage the site’s WC insurance program (domestic scope); manage cases for cost-effective treatment and prompt RTW; manage complex and potentially difficult expectations and relationships.
  • Ensure EHS Compliance
  • Create and manage processes to ensure compliance with requirements from EHS related government regulations and industry standards – including OSHA, EPA, DOT, NRC, CAP, NFPA, SAMSHA and others.
  • Perform Corporate Audits and provide guidance to Senior Company Leaders on Compliance.
  • Manage extensive creation, implementation, audit and recordkeeping responsibilities of EHS SOPs for multiple lines of business including global business
  • Collaborate and Partner with other departments and functions and lines of business as necessary for effective and sustainable compliance.
  • Regional Management of EHS Teams.
  • Support and drive the company Green program.
  • Ensure Green data is collected, authenticated, and communicated.
  • Research and consider creative solutions to specific problems.
  • Analyze and report cost benefits of alternative solutions
  • Drive and support six sigma/QMS processes and EHS project improvements.
  • Contribute/Collaborate with Corporate Medical leadership
  • Serve as site(s) Chemical Hygiene Officer; accountable for all associated responsibilities; maintain chemical inventory and MSDS database, exposure monitoring, inspections, reporting and training.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to manage Chemicals, reduce waste, and biohazard wastes.
  • Ensure all locations perform reviews of hazardous wastes annually.
  • Contribute to Safe Driving program development and implementation, potentially expanding to educate all employees (not just those driving on company business).
  • Serve as site(s) Radiation Safety Officer and all associated responsibilities.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to other Radiation Safety Officers
