About The Position

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) is seeking a talented Refugee Case Manager to provide trauma-informed case management services to refugee/entrant clients. The goal is to assist clients in achieving successful integration, gainful employment, and personal financial responsibility, covering basic needs like food, clothing, housing, and personal health. The Case Manager will monitor client progress, adjust service plans as needed, and may be involved in direct care if assigned to a residential facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years of experience working in a refugee and immigrant social services environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to connect families to community services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical assessment and analysis skills.
  • Ability to work and deal with a diverse group of clients.
  • Must be able to keep confidential information.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) fluency is required.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
  • Must be able to pass FBI, and Child Abuse and Neglect Checks for every state in which they have resided in the last five years.
  • Must possess a clean/valid Florida Driver License, reliable transportation and proof of insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive case management services, including researching community partners and making referrals to appropriate social service agencies and organizations.
  • Recruit program participants through internal referrals and outreach.
  • Complete eligibility screenings and comprehensive intakes for all eligible participants.
  • Develop goal-oriented, client-centered self-sufficiency plans addressing long- and short-term needs.
  • Provide cultural orientation workshops.
  • Guide participants through referrals, providing follow-up and ensuring services are linguistically and culturally appropriate.
  • Screen for direct participant financial assistance eligibility, facilitate disbursement, and conduct follow-up and financial reporting.
  • Maintain regular contact and positive rapport with program participants.
  • Collaborate with other LSF case managers for program enrollment and service coordination.
  • Provide guidance and communication with volunteers assisting clients with English tutoring, career mentorship, etc.
  • Participate in community coordination, capacity building, and partnership development.
  • Complete case notes and required assessments in an online database in a timely manner.
  • Maintain comprehensive case files, ensuring client confidentiality and protection of personally identifiable information.
  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of programmatic requirements.
  • Attend internal and external workshops and trainings on relevant topics.
  • Train, supervise, and support program interns and volunteers.
  • Prepare reports as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Develop client employability skills and self-sufficiency plans, including employment training, career counseling, resume building, and employer outreach.
  • Provide services to at-risk school-age children in academic and career counseling, serving as a liaison to school officials.
  • Enter financial transactions into the approved tracking system and accounting procedures.
  • Create and document check request vouchers for clients.
  • Complete inventory control data entry, database entry, and tagging of equipment and furniture.
  • Provide indirect supervision of program staff and training if necessary.
  • Assist manager with enforcement/compliance protocols and project management goal attainment.
