We have an opportunity for a Refrigeration Technician 1st to join our Manitowoc , WI team. You will assist with ice machine reliability testing and data collection tasks related to product variants; test fixtures; NPD (New Product Development) verification and validation activities. This position is technical and hands-on in nature.

Requirements

  • Associate degree, Technical Diploma, or Certificate in HVACR / Electro-Mechanical / Electronics preferred
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Basic technical literacy including calculator use, unit conversions, Microsoft products, and data acquisition systems.
  • Knowledge of test equipment: mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and the ability to perform basic processes such as brazing, leak detection, soldering, refrigerant charging & recovery, operate hoist, lift and pallet jack
  • Ability to stand & walk on concrete 100% of the day, ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, lift and carry 35 lbs., and work in hot/cold environments for reasonable periods of time
  • Acquisition of E.P.A Type I, II Refrigerant Handling Certificate within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Set up Ice Machine for basic performance testing (electrical, water, drain & data acquisition connections).
  • Follow testing procedures using appropriate instrumentation and standard methods per internal specifications.
  • Operate general lab equipment such as scale, flow meter, overhead hoist, dimensional and electrical measuring equipment
  • Perform computer data entry; and use of Microsoft Office & National Instruments (NI) Data acquisition systems
  • Maintain lab tools, equipment, and housekeeping standards
  • Accurately record test data in Electronic Test Request Folders
  • Know and follow all necessary safety procedures, and be an active participant in department specific meetings and activities
  • Assist with calibration activities.
  • Participate in creation of Engineering Lab Best Practices
