About The Position

Hanover Foods Corporation Clayton, De is currently seeking an experienced Refrigeration Tech C for our 2nd shift. The Refrigeration Technician C supports the maintenance and repair of industrial refrigeration systems, with a primary focus on ammonia (NH₃) systems. This role involves performing supervised freezer repairs, including the replacement and repair of ammonia pumps, compressors, boilers, and control valves. The technician ensures all work complies with company safety, quality, and food safety standards while maintaining plant hygiene and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Working knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems, particularly ammonia (NH₃) operations and control systems.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems used in refrigeration.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work effectively under supervision.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully completes Emergency Response Training and annual medical/physical examinations.
  • Performs supervised repairs and maintenance on refrigeration and freezer systems, including ammonia pumps, compressors, boilers, and control valves.
  • Ensures all safety guards and protective devices are in place before operating equipment.
  • Promptly reports any product quality concerns to the Manager, Supervisor, and/or Quality Assurance personnel.
  • Properly handles and disposes of waste materials in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrates a strong desire and aptitude for professional growth, including advancing to higher levels of refrigeration responsibility through ongoing training and education.
  • Adheres to all safety regulations, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintains strict compliance with plant hygiene and sanitation procedures to protect product integrity.
  • Keeps work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards at all times.
  • Follows all food safety, legality, and quality policies and procedures, including GMPs, food security, product quality, and plant security standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager and/or Supervisor.
