About The Position

This facility is part of our Prepared Foods business unit. The Refrigeration Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining the boilers, air compressors, flotation, main lift stations, hot water systems and refrigeration equipment, assets, processes and areas as required eliminating downtime unsafe conditions USDA issues and Food Safety concerns.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent preferred; prefer post-high school education. May include but not limited to special training certification programs vocational school military training and or college classes.
  • 3 years experience as a refrigeration mechanic, Operator 1 ammonia Certified, Hazmat 24hr training , Incident command, Process safety management experience , Planner 201 Training, Hazwoper experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, Knowledge for the operation and repair of two stage anhydrous ammonia refrigeration system, screw compressor and booster, reciprocating compressor, rotary booster, evaporative condensers, ammonia pumps and controls.
  • Must be competent in Windows bases software; will be expected to correspond via e-mails enter data into document templates or creating simple queries.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in all areas of communication: verbal written and reading.
  • Responsible for managing a group of hourly team members who will perform the necessary work to maintain the engine room boilers and refrigeration system.
  • Must reside in the United States to be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the Roundsman crew on a daily basis.
  • Ensure strict adherence to plant safety policies, procedures, and food safety programs to maintain the Process Safety Management (PSM) program for the plant, in alignment with Tyson corporate standards.
  • Maintain high levels of labor efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage and maintain the refrigeration systems of the carcass coolers, understanding the significance of carcass condition and temperature in relation to shrink quality, yields, ergonomics, work compensation, and plant profitability.
  • Prioritize and schedule Roundsman crew work in collaboration with maintenance planners.
  • Verify the renewal of all equipment licenses annually and ensure current operating certificates.
  • Actively participate in plant maintenance activities, HACCP, and USDA-related issues.
  • Ensure that all repairs are completed within food safety guidelines.
  • Assist TCCS with their PSM and refrigeration programs as needed.
