We are hiring a Refrigeration Supervisor in Deer Park, TX. This position is responsible for the daily administration of one or more of the following HR disciplines: staffing, workforce relations, compensation and benefits, training, etc. This is the senior level professional position working under limited supervision on complex issues, plans and programs and has appreciable latitude for review and action or decisions and may interpret and apply organization policy.

Requirements

  • 3+ years related experience; Ammonia Refrigeration experience required
  • Must have knowledge and skills in the technologies of general construction, electrical systems, electronic systems, microprocessors, mechanical systems (e.g. production/process refrigeration boilers HVAC hydraulics and pneumatics), and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Must have previous supervisor experience.
  • Basic PC skills including expertise with MS Office and Outlook.
  • Must have basic mathematical and problem-solving skills in order to generate and maintain departmental reports.
  • Must be capable and willing to work any shift and be on 24-hour call for emergency situations as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of food plant production and processing equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety knowledge of PSM & OSHA safety regulations, and EPA regulations, USDA and sanitation standards preferred.
  • SAP experience is beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • May be required to be clean shaven if trained in the use of and required to use a respirator.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the maintenance and preventive maintenance of all production machinery and any building maintenance needs.
  • Supervise technical maintenance activities, troubleshooting, and the repair of ammonia refrigeration equipment including vessels, evaporators, condensers, pumps, motors, compressors, valves, and other refrigeration equipment.
  • Manage the food safety sanitation, quality, and security of the food products produced.
  • Comply with the EPA's Risk Management Program Regulation of a hazardous Chemical facility (Process Safety Management, System Management, Hazard Assessment, Emergency Response program, Risk Management Plans, Hazard Analysis, and Offsite Consequence strategies).
  • Contact and coordinate external service agencies as appropriate to schedule refrigeration repair work and ensure timely and effective work order completion.
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance as required by PSM schedules.
  • Be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and examining refrigeration systems (both Ammonia and Freon).
  • Perform daily chemical testing and logging all test results making adjustments required to maintain refrigeration & utility system within established limits.
  • Interface with state and federal government agencies as required.
  • Confer with operators and observe test and evaluate operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunctions.
  • Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Ensure all ammonia safety equipment is up to date.
  • Comply with Safety Programs to ensure protection of employees and property.
  • Supervise train and develop subordinates.
  • Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates conduct themselves in a manner consistent with Schwan's company mission, values, code of ethics policies, and other standards of conduct.
  • Ensure nightly use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to bump caps, safety glasses/goggles, face shields, face masks, ear plugs, hair and beard nets, gloves and safety shoes or rubber boots.
