The Refrigeration Lead Maintenance position assists the Supervisor with coordinating daily department responsibilities, ensuring instructions are communicated to team members and carried out correctly and on time. The role also troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs assigned equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and following Tyson policies and procedures. The position oversees hourly checks of facility ammonia systems—including compressors, condensers, evaporators, recirculators, piping, and associated equipment—and ensures checks are completed and documented correctly. The lead is also responsible for air compressors, boilers, thermal fluid systems, HVAC systems, air handlers, exhaust fans, ice makers, and water-chilling systems, and for reporting ammonia leaks. Duties include daily preventive maintenance, boiler and condenser-treatment tests, and regular visual inspections of assigned equipment on the roof and inside the plant. The employee must develop a thorough knowledge of the plant layout, tools, parts, and equipment and maintain ammonia refrigeration equipment within facility safety standards. The work takes place inside and outside the facility as directed. Conditions may include outdoor weather, wet floors, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment repairs, moving objects, humidity, noise, and cramped work areas. The successful candidate must be able to perform the job’s physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation.
