About The Position

This role is responsible for executing chiller performance testing and related tasks. The technician will perform tests according to engineering plans, record data, and report on results. They will also troubleshoot chiller performance and operational issues, including mechanical, electrical, and controls aspects, as well as central plant operations. Responsibilities include evacuating chillers, transferring refrigerant while maintaining inventory control, and performing repairs, modifications, and upgrades based on engineering specifications. The technician will also support 6S and department maintenance efforts, and perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Ability to braze copper joints with an open flame torch
• An understanding of evacuation and refrigerant transfer equipment and industry best practices
• Attention to detail
• Mechanical skills
• Able to work alone
• Working written/verbal communication skills (English)
• Ability to multitask and adapt to a highly dynamic environment
• Good reasoning skills and sound judgement

Nice To Haves

• Refrigerant handling license
• Apprentice refrigeration mechanic license
• Journeyman refrigeration mechanic license
• Previous brazing experience

Responsibilities

• Test chillers according to engineering test plans, record the data required, and report on test results.
• Troubleshoot chiller performance and operational issues (mechanical, electrical, controls, central plant)
• Evacuate chillers according to company standards and troubleshoot leaks.
• Refrigerant transfer to and from chillers, record exchanges for inventory control
• Execute repairs, modifications, and upgrades according to Engineering specifications
• Support 6S and department maintenance efforts
• Other duties and responsibilities as required
