About The Position

ADM Bioproducts is seeking a superintendent to lead the Refinery team. Utilizing various unit operations, utilities, and chemical inputs, this department processes fermentation broth into various products for use in animal feed applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving department performance through the performance management and development of department colleagues, and collaboration with a cross-functional team of personnel, including compliance, technical & operational, maintenance, lab, & business teams. Bioproducts runs fermentation and various purification processes to produce liquid and dry products for human and animal consumption. This facility operates around the clock, 365 days per year.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of plant operations and managerial experience preferred
  • Demonstrated problem solving
  • Good written and verbal communication skills necessary to relay results and performance to key stakeholders and to drive success in operations staff.
  • Ability to manage intradepartmental relationships across company job functions.
  • Ability to assess criticality of tasks and prioritize.
  • Gain general knowledge of operation of process, regulatory requirements, and financial understanding of the manufacturing costs related to refining equipment and processes.
  • Effective interaction with multiple employees and managers to prioritize demands.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with balanced focus on compliance, cost, and personnel.

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. in Engineering or equivalent not required, but a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for all company and location requirements for personal safety, process safety, environmental compliance, quality assurance, and ethics.
  • Own and lead follow up on all compliance related incidents, investigations, Management of Change, and initiatives.
  • Leverage available resources within and outside of the department to meet goals and target dates for completion.
  • Ensure focus on KPI’s through thoughtful design with Structured Management Systems and Review & Response practices.
  • Partner with Technology/R&D/Engineering/Maintenance teams to identify improvement opportunities and drive the Focused Improvement efforts in their area, including reliability, chemical utilization, yield, utility savings, and waste minimization.
  • Advocate for resources to make the department a success.
  • Ensure effective training and mentoring of department operations staff.
  • Recognize colleague successes, and identify growth needs.
  • Availability to support 24/7 plant operations.
