About The Position

Carolina Family Health Centers, Inc. is a nonprofit, federally qualified health center (FQHC) dedicated to providing accessible and affordable healthcare to the community. They offer integrated primary medical care, behavioral health, pharmacy, and dental services. The Referrals Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the referral staff and the referral process, acting as a liaison with specialty offices and healthcare systems for referral coordination. This position offers a 40-hour work week with no weekends, a full benefits package, 12 paid holidays, and bi-weekly pay.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One-year experience as a supervisor or three years work experience in referrals or office experience.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Attentive to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Health Information Technology or Medical Office Administration.
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision to the Referrals Associates, including interviewing, hiring, training, orientation, distributing responsibilities, and ongoing performance evaluation.
  • Serves as the in-house expert and point of contact for the electronic health record system referral platform and other healthcare networks’ systems for coordinating specialty and imaging referrals.
  • Troubleshoots system issues or errors and manages staff access to referral systems.
  • Conducts periodic audits to assess the timeliness of referral authorization, quality of documentation, and adherence to workflows.
  • Reports monthly on staff productivity, program goals, staffing issues, and other challenges or successes.
  • Addresses deficiencies through staff training, process development, and/or corrective action.
