About The Position

The Referral Specialist will deliver care to patients utilizing the Referral Specialist Process. This role will initiate and manage all components of clinical referrals for various services. They will set up appointments and any special arrangements such as transportation, interpreter services, etc. The Referral Specialist will verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations, if needed, from insurance providers. They will act as a liaison between hospitals, physicians, health plans, vendors and patients or referral sources. This role coordinates the flow of information between the medical clinic and the referral authorization department to secure a valid referral for clinic patients. The Referral Specialist will develop and maintain a database of referral physician offices preferred by each physician within the clinic. They will also assist the Practice Manager with complaint resolution and solutions related to patient referrals. Additionally, the Referral Specialist will enter referrals, documents, communications, and actions in the system.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Have strong customer skills
  • Have good communication skills
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism
  • Be a team player who handles multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and communicates effectively with both clinical and administrative staff to ensure patients receive timely, accurate referrals

  • Two years of Related experience in a healthcare environment
