Referral Specialist – Neuro Consult Dallas – Full-Time, Days
About The Position
The Referral Specialist will deliver care to patients utilizing the Referral Specialist Process. This role involves initiating and managing all components of clinical referrals for various services, setting up appointments, and making special arrangements such as transportation or interpreter services. The specialist will also verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and act as a liaison between hospitals, physicians, health plans, vendors, and patients or referral sources. Additionally, they will coordinate the flow of information to secure valid referrals, develop and maintain a database of preferred referral physician offices, assist the Practice Manager with complaint resolution related to patient referrals, and enter referrals, documents, communications, and actions into the system.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Have strong customer skills
- Have good communication skills
- Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism
- Be a team player who handles multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and communicates effectively with both clinical and administrative staff to ensure patients receive timely, accurate referrals

Responsibilities

- Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorizations, if needed, from insurance providers
- Acts as liaison between hospitals, physicians, health plans, vendors and patients or referral sources
- Coordinates flow of information between medical clinic and referral authorization department to secure a valid referral for clinic patient
- Develops and maintains database of referral physician offices preferred by each physician within the clinic
- Assists Practice Manager with complaint resolution and solutions related to patient referrals
- Enters referrals, documents, communications, and actions in system
