Responsibilities
- Process incoming and outgoing patient referrals in a timely and accurate manner
- Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and authorization requirements
- Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals as required by insurance providers
- Schedule appointments with specialists and ancillary service providers
- Communicate referral details clearly to patients, including preparation instructions and documentation needed
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date referral records in the electronic health record (EHR) system
- Follow up on pending referrals and ensure completion of services
- Coordinate with physicians, medical staff, and external offices to ensure continuity of care
- Address patient inquiries regarding referral status and assist with problem resolution
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all applicable healthcare regulations
