About The Position

The Referral Coordinator processes and follows up on referrals and procedure orders generated by providers and communicates updates to patients. The role initiates authorizations for patient services and requires knowledge of insurance coverage, documentation of authorizations, and communication of authorization status to practice staff.

The coordinator works with Baptist Medical Group representatives, medical facilities, insurance companies, patients, and family members. The position is with Internal Medicine & Pediatrics at BMP Navarre.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in healthcare or a medical office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming and outgoing referrals and orders in a timely manner.
• Document phone calls, messages, and interactions with patients and insurance companies in the patient chart or applicable order systems.
• Obtain prior authorizations for appointments and procedures.
• Update patient demographics in the practice management system.
• Verify health insurance eligibility and understand applicable copays, coinsurance, and deductibles.
• Explain financial requirements to patients or responsible parties and collect applicable patient financial portions, such as copays and coinsurance.
• Operate a variety of office equipment effectively.
• Work closely with Baptist Medical Group representatives, medical facilities, insurance companies, patients, and family members.
