Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Licenses: Current Medical Assistant Certification and/or Registration required through an accredited organization (i.e. AMT, AAMA, NHA, etc.)
  • Certifications: Current BLS Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years Medical Assistant Experience or related Health Care Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble information concerning patient's clinical background and referral needs; per referral guidelines, provide appropriate clinical information to specialists; review details and expectations about the referral with patients.
  • Prioritizes referrals by their urgency and addresses them in a timely manner; maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals to promote team awareness and ensure patient safety.
  • Participates in the selection, orientation and training of referral processes.
  • Reviews details and expectations about the referral with both ordering providers and patients; requests new referrals to be ordered when applicable; Ensure complete and accurate registration, including patient demographic and current insurance information.
  • Point of contact for patients and specialists for any questions or rising concerns.
  • Assist in problem solving potential issues related to their referral due to language or social barriers, and transportation. If unable to help, assist in finding the right point of contact to further help.
  • Accurately and truthfully complete patient records for the referral process in a timely manner.
  • Work harmoniously with Physician and Clerical staff to meet patient needs; assist Medical Office Specialists with check-in/out process; serve as backup for Medical Office Specialists vacations, illnesses, lunches, etc.
  • Medication cards set-up, medication card explanation/patient education pertaining to medication card.
  • Complete daily routine assignments.
  • Other job related duties assigned.
