About The Position

Responsible for scheduling patient appointments with specialists and tests at appropriate facilities, and coordinating completion of insurance-mandated referrals and authorizations before the date of service. The role also educates patients about protocols for tests and appointments and responds to patient calls in a timely manner.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of medical office experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate appointment scheduling and obtain timely insurance referrals and authorizations to support quality patient care.
• Educate patients regarding protocols for tests and appointments.
• Keep up to date on referral criteria by reviewing insurance-carrier updates and attending training.
• Recommend process improvements to the office manager to improve service quality.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Process physician and patient requests for tests and referrals in a timely manner.
• Respond appropriately and promptly to patient calls.
