About The Position

The Referral Coordinator supports clinical teams, patients, and family members by managing referrals and/or authorizations for the medical group. The role processes internal and external referrals and authorizations from provider-prescribed orders in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system within the Outpatient Ambulatory setting. The department provides centralized insurance authorization support for patient visits and high-tech imaging services across all of FPG’s medical practices.

Requirements

• One year of previous healthcare experience.
• High school diploma, GED, or certificate.

Nice To Haves

• Effective communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with physician offices and interdepartmentally.
• General knowledge of medical insurance and terminology.
• Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and current CPT coding.
• Patient registration and/or billing experience.
• Ability to analyze problems and offer solutions, and to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Associate's degree.
