About The Position

The Referral Coordinator is responsible for managing patient referrals, maintaining patient records, verifying insurance information, and providing administrative support. This role involves direct patient interaction to answer questions and resolve issues, ensuring patients have the necessary information for care decisions. The coordinator also manages inventory, orders supplies, and maintains vendor relations. Key duties include front desk operations such as check-in/check-out, insurance verification, copay collection, pre-certifications, and processing HMO referrals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • 0-2 years of experience in the field or a related area.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • One year of medical experience from a similar setting.
  • Data entry and/or front office experience.
  • Healthcare experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate referral appointments, managing incoming patient referrals.
  • Maintain and update patient records in accordance with laws and regulations.
  • Verify patient insurance information, including coverage, enrollment, procedure coverage, copay amounts, and billing information.
  • Provide administrative support, including answering phone calls and emails, managing schedules, and maintaining files.
  • Ensure doctors and nurses have necessary supplies and patient records prior to appointments.
  • Answer patient questions and resolve issues related to office visits and care decisions, adhering to HIPAA.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering medications, DME, and supplies.
  • Maintain good vendor relations.
  • Perform front desk duties: check-in, check-out, insurance verification, copay collections, pre-certifications, and HMO referrals.
