About The Position

Uvalde Memorial Hospital is seeking a compassionate and organized Referral and Authorization Coordinator to join its Clinics team in Uvalde, Texas. This role connects patients, providers, insurance companies, and specialty care partners, helping patients access timely care and navigate referrals and authorizations. The position is full-time, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and electronic healthcare systems.

Nice To Haves

Previous medical office experience.
Experience with referrals, insurance verification, and prior authorizations.
Bilingual skills.

Responsibilities

Coordinate referrals and insurance authorizations for procedures, specialist visits, and diagnostic services.
Schedule appointments with Uvalde Memorial Hospital providers and outside specialists.
Keep patients informed during the referral and authorization process and provide appointment instructions and follow-up information.
Obtain insurance authorizations promptly and prioritize urgent requests to prevent care delays.
Collaborate with providers, insurance companies, outside facilities, and clinic staff to coordinate services in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate documentation of referrals, authorizations, and patient communications.
Educate patients about insurance benefits, financial responsibilities, payment options, and available financial assistance programs.
Research specialty providers and insurance participation to help patients find appropriate providers.
