About The Position

Basketball and soccer referees maintain the integrity of youth sports league games by regulating rules and guidelines as necessary. The role assists in maintaining timeliness, sportsmanship, and safety of athletes, parents, and community members. The position is on site at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake locations in Sugar House and Murray. Typical hours are Monday through Thursday, 4:30–7:30 p.m., 2–4 days a week. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Pay is $15–16 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must have some knowledge of both basketball and soccer.
• Must be willing to attend required trainings for youth workers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure guidelines, rules, and sportsmanship are enforced.
• Officiate assigned games for leagues and tournament play.
• Assist with field and/or court setup and takedown.
• Conduct safety and related inspections.
• Report field and/or court problems to the Athletic Director.
• Report problems with coaches, players, parents, or spectators to the Athletic Director.
• Ensure the safety of staff, participants, and citizens.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
