About The Position

Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Basketball Referee to join the dynamic team at Harris Park Community Center. This position will be working Friday evenings and Saturdays. Responsible for officiating basketball games, including oversight of event, facility and spectators.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in athletic/sports management rules and procedures preferred.
• No experience as a basketball referee required.

Responsibilities

• Officiate basketball games in accordance with established standards and practices, including making official calls regarding game, fouls, maintaining score and time of each period on the scoreboard, keeping track of ball possession, and ensuring control of game and compliance of patrons.
• Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of LSPR owned equipment utilized for Basketball league; responsible for reporting equipment and maintenance needs to Recreation Supervisor.
• Maintains safety by following LSPR guidelines, policies and procedures; responsible for reporting issues regarding participants to Recreation Supervisor.
• Responsible for continual evaluation of Basketball league and advise Recreation Supervisor of observations and recommendations.
• Attends staff meetings as directed.
• Ensures enforcement of rules and regulations of LSPR, including rules related to Basketball league.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.
