Basketball Referee
About The Position
The Basketball Youth Referee position involves assisting with court set-up and take-down, and primarily responsible for refereeing youth basketball games. Referees will be trained on proper game-time calls and will be accountable for enforcing league rules. This role requires effective communication with parents, coaches, and players regarding rules and league play. Additionally, referees may be asked to assist as a scorekeeper. The league operates indoors at the Farmington City Gymnasium from October 26th through the end of February, with no games scheduled on holidays. The work environment requires physical activity such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and lifting, along with the ability to talk, hear, and see effectively. Essential mental applications include memory for details, following verbal instructions, emotional stability, discrimination thinking, and creative problem-solving.
Requirements
- Must be at least 14 years of age at the time of hire
- Must demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and the ability to follow instructions
- Applicants 18 years of age or older must pass a background check
