About The Position

Under general supervision, the Reentry Center Program Coordinator will support the mission of the Center, which is to serve as a bridge to community resources for individuals releasing from the county jail and their families, helping to promote successful reintegration and reduce recidivism. The Reentry Center Program Coordinator will oversee all day to day operations of the center, supervise a team of resource navigators, ensure high quality service delivery, and manage all reporting requirements. Performs special projects and programs as directed by the Sheriff or Command Staff as designated. The Re-entry Center Program Coordinator is currently a temporary grant-funded position. This position will be required to pursue future grant opportunities in an effort keep the position funded. The Navajo County policy and procedures provides the following terms for grant-funded positions: Grant-funded positions: Grant-funded positions may be regular or temporary and may be full-time or part-time. These status issues will be determined individually with each position, based on terms specified in the grant. Regular full-time and eligible part-time grant-funded positions will have all of the same benefits as regular positions funded by the County. If the grant funding is canceled for any reason, the position is automatically eliminated and the employee is laid off. The layoff is effective no later than the date the grant funds are exhausted. Grant-funded positions may be classified or unclassified depending upon the appropriate criteria as stated in Section 1.53.

Requirements

  • Be adept in various policies and procedures impacting the Sheriff's Office
  • Proficient in federal, state and local laws, regulations, rules and ordinances related to local government operations
  • Capable of applying principles and practices of supervision and public administration
  • Application of all forms of clerical and office practices and procedures.
  • Proficient in the utilization of research and report writing.
  • Critical understanding of Law enforcement activities and details as related to behavioral health.
  • Ability to analyzing complex legislative issues and recommending solutions
  • Ability in researching, evaluating, and using new methods and techniques for operational improvements
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; AND bachelor’s in behavioral science, health, criminal justice or related field; AND a minimum of four (4) years of progressive responsible experience in a detention or behavioral health setting; AND valid AZ Driver License.
  • Experience supervising staff strongly preferred
  • An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year per year basis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community-based services, Medicaid and grant reporting, case management, and barrier reduction strategies for justice involved populations.
  • Experience working with individuals and families impacted by the criminal justice system.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient with computer programs for data entry, reporting, and documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and community partners.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the Reentry Center, ensuring safe and effective delivery of services to releasing inmates and their families.
  • Supervise, train, and provide ongoing support and professional development to Reentry Center and other program staff as directed.
  • Coordinate and manage resource navigation activities, including but not limited to, behavioral health referrals, substance use treatment linkage, housing assistance, and connections to employment and social services.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, equity, and trauma-informed approaches in all client interactions.
  • Maintain a welcoming, accessible, and trauma-informed environment for clients and their families.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all grant and Medicaid related documentation, reports, and compliance activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, developing and implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with jail staff, community partners, and county agencies to facilitate coordinated service delivery.
  • Oversee client data collection, confidentiality, and adherence to all applicable privacy laws and county policies.
  • Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality in all interactions, documentation and information sharing.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all work-related issues, records and restricted information.
  • Manage expenditures and supplies related to center operations as assigned.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for grantors, county leadership, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for reentry best practices within the criminal justice system and broader community.
