About The Position

The Red Teamer conducts offensive security engineering to evaluate and strengthen the organization’s security posture. The role includes penetration testing, red-team exercises, purple-team activities, and advanced vulnerability analysis across infrastructure, applications, and cloud environments. The position is remote and may require obtaining and maintaining a federal public trust security clearance because the employer is a federal contractor. The successful candidate builds and runs purple-team exercises to improve SOC capability, detection engineering, and threat-hunting maturity; conducts penetration tests and stealth red-team exercises; develops attack tooling and testing methodologies; and supports zero-day research, exploit validation, and attacker behavior modeling. The role also requires producing technical reports and executive summaries that explain findings, risk impacts, and remediation recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; additional information-security experience may substitute year for year.
  • Have or obtain within one year of employment or promotion a standard industry certification for an offensive security role, such as OSCP, OSWE, OSEP, GX-PN, GWAPT, GPEN, CRTO, OSEE, OSMR, CEH (baseline), or Pentest+.
  • Three years in an information security role.
  • Two years of hands-on penetration testing or offensive security experience.
  • Experience in at least two offensive domains: network, application, cloud, mobile, or social engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in attack simulation, exploit development, or red-team operations.
  • Familiarity with SIEM, EDR, and security-monitoring platforms from an attacker-evasion perspective.
  • Complete the application, including education, employment history, and other applicable sections; incomplete applications will not be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run purple-team exercises to improve SOC capability, detection engineering, and threat-hunting maturity.
  • Execute internal and external penetration tests across network, web application, wireless, and cloud environments.
  • Generate detailed technical reports and executive summaries outlining findings, risk impacts, and remediation recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain attack tooling, scripts, payloads, and custom testing methodologies.
  • Conduct full-scope, stealth red-team exercises that emulate real-world threat actors.
  • Assist with zero-day research, exploit validation, and attacker behavior modeling.
