Recycling Specialist
About The Position
Coastal Waste & Recycling is hiring a Recycling Specialist to help recover recyclable materials and support safe, efficient recycling operations. The role involves identifying, sorting, and separating recyclable materials from the recycling stream, removing contaminants, and helping keep materials in circulation rather than sending them to landfills. Specialists work around conveyor systems and recycling equipment, maintain clean and hazard-free work areas, and follow company safety procedures, environmental regulations, and operational policies. Team members may also assist coworkers or support other operational needs as directed by a supervisor once assigned work is complete.
Requirements

- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
Nice To Haves
- Previous recycling, warehouse, manufacturing, construction, or labor experience; experience is helpful but not required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Creole.
Responsibilities
- Sort cardboard, paper, plastics, metals, and glass from the recycling stream.
- Inspect materials and remove contaminants to support high-quality recycled products.
- Work safely around conveyor systems and recycling equipment and follow company safety procedures.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Monitor equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns to a supervisor.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and promote a culture of safety.
- Follow company policies, environmental regulations, and operational procedures.
- Assist teammates or support other operational needs as directed by a supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
