About The Position

Coastal Waste & Recycling is hiring a Recycling Specialist to help recover recyclable materials and support safe, efficient recycling operations. The role involves identifying and separating materials from the recycling stream, removing contaminants, and helping keep valuable materials in circulation rather than sending them to landfills. The position is active and team-oriented, with a focus on safety, attention to detail, and contributing to cleaner, more sustainable communities. Team members may also assist coworkers or support other operational needs as directed by a supervisor.

Nice To Haves

• Previous recycling, warehouse, manufacturing, construction, or labor experience.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Creole.

Responsibilities

• Sort recyclable materials, including cardboard, paper, plastics, metals, and glass, from the recycling stream.
• Inspect materials and remove contaminants to help ensure high-quality recycled products.
• Work safely around conveyor systems and recycling equipment while following company safety procedures.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
• Monitor equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns to a supervisor.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and promote a culture of safety.
• Follow company policies, environmental regulations, and operational procedures.
• Assist teammates or support other operational needs once assigned work is complete, as directed by a supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
