About The Position

The Recycling Operator I supports production by safely operating equipment, processing and sorting plastic materials, preparing materials for shredding, and loading bales for shipment or storage. The role follows plant safety, equipment operating, and organizational procedures; maintains material quality and workflow; promptly reports equipment issues; and works collaboratively with supervisors, maintenance, and quality teams. Success requires safe, reliable, and accountable performance, accurate sorting with low contamination, minimal production downtime, and clean, organized work areas.

Responsibilities

Follow plant safety procedures and use proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Respond immediately and correctly to emergency alarms and plant alerts.
Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to move and stage materials.
Support and/or operate sort deck operations to ensure proper material flow.
Perform pre-shred operations, including staging and preparing materials for processing.
Complete bale loading safely and accurately for shipment or storage.
Follow trained start-up, shutdown, and operational procedures.
Promptly report equipment issues to minimize downtime.
Identify and sort plastic materials according to specifications.
Ensure materials are separated and directed through the correct process flow, supporting clean, usable output and reducing contamination.
Follow 5S and housekeeping standards; keep work areas organized, safe, and free of hazards.
Stage and place materials appropriately to support efficient workflow and comply with plant organization expectations.
Communicate issues and concerns clearly and promptly.
Work collaboratively with supervisors, maintenance, and quality teams; follow direction and take ownership of assigned tasks.
Support shift goals and maintain production flow.
