About The Position

Recycle Techs pick up, process, organize, and transport recyclable materials, including cardboard, plastic, scrap, refuse, and wooden shipping pallets. Work may involve operating clients’ balers after training on baler safety protocols and bale distribution. Employees work in assigned areas that may change based on client needs and are responsible for safe loading, unloading, and handling of recyclable goods. They must communicate professionally with clients, teammates, and contractors and follow ABM and client safety, security, compliance, and safety procedures. Employees should arrive with assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) and weather-appropriate attire.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety standards.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to walk, stand, climb, bend forward, and kneel during the assigned shift.
• Ability to lift, carry, push or pull, and transport 10 or more pounds for at least 75% of the shift.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or general cleaning roles is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Pick up, process, organize, and safely transport recyclable goods.
• Use balers as assigned, following applicable safety protocols, and distribute bales.
• Remove recyclable materials from trash or plastic and transport them to the proper disposal area.
• Cut and break down cardboard items into gaylords and deliver them to the baler or other assigned areas.
• Organize wooden pallets in the proper areas, using pallet jacks when needed, and evaluate them for possible resale.
• Operate in assigned areas, which may change according to client needs.
• Load and unload recyclable goods safely.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and healthy work environment and communicate professionally with clients, teammates, and contractors.
• Follow ABM and client safety, security, compliance, and other applicable procedures.
• Secure the tools needed for the task at the beginning of the shift.
• Keep work equipment clean and sanitized before, during, and after the shift.
• Perform other assigned area duties as needed, including cleaning, sanitizing, sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
