About The Position

For Water Street Mission to fulfill its mission and purpose, it is critical for all staff to participate in the development and maintenance of a healthy Christian Community. By living out our faith with one another and creating a space where our guests are invited to experience that community with us, we participate in lives being restored. Even as some positions have minimal direct contact with guests, each staff member has an essential role in forming and maintaining Christian community. The love of Christ, evidenced in our Water Street community, is the real impetus for change with our guests. Job Summary: Provide support to WSHS Recuperative Care (RC) through direct guest services such as transportation, laundry services, room cleaning, and social check-ins. Perform basic medical tasks when needed and support guests to meet their health goals. FLSA: Full-time, 40 hours, non-exempt, Monday-Friday 8a-430p All Water Street Mission staff must be: · Willing to sign the Water Street Missions’ Statement of Faith. · A current and active member and/or regular attendee of a local church. · Able to fully support the Water Street Mission’s core values and ministry philosophy.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or necessary training and/or experience for job responsibilities
  • Active driving license
  • Confident computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior healthcare experience
  • Prior work with people experiencing homelessness and/or substance use and mental illness
  • Bilingual; Spanish-speaking

Responsibilities

  • Share the Good News of Jesus Christ in words and actions with people we serve, communicating hope and dignity.
  • Walk alongside fellow WSM staff in Christian community as we journey toward maturity.
  • Encourage restoration in the lives of coworkers and guests, recognizing we are each restored by God to become restorers.
  • Work in full coordination with other WSM staff always to identify, report and respond appropriately to any potential threats to the safety and wellbeing of guests.
  • Provide orientation of WSM and RC services for new guests.
  • Develop rapport and a supportive therapeutic relationship with guests to encourage them to meet their health goals and foster a healing environment.
  • Obtain basic vital signs and assist in triaging next steps regarding medical events when needed.
  • Provide transportation to and from medical and social service appointments.
  • Provide RC administrative support.
  • Assist with restocking supplies in RC rooms.
  • Deliver meals for guests when needed.
  • Maintain a trauma-informed approach to care and interactions with guests.
  • Collaborate with and support WSM life coach and social services team.
  • Document promptly and appropriately in Salesforce and/or EPIC.
  • Assist with room cleaning, laundry, and trash removal on a regular basis and as needed.
  • Provide “warm hand off” referrals to other staff (internally or externally) whenever possible.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
