Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Recruitment Specialist plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of talent at Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to both the short- and long-term HR strategy, helping to build an inclusive, high-performing, and values-driven workplace. In this role, the Recruitment Specialist will lead and influence the design, implementation, and ongoing evolution of a comprehensive recruitment and retention strategy - one that attracts exceptional and diverse talent, supports meaningful development and career growth, and fosters a strong sense of belonging and engagement across the organization. The work will have a direct impact on the candidate and employee experience and the continued success of NBS.

Requirements

  • An innovative, forward-thinking mindset; you’re always looking for ways to improve and evolve processes
  • Strong presentation, communication and interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to engage and connect with others
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources (CHRP/TMP designation is a welcome bonus!)
  • 2-3 years of HR experience, with a strong focus on recruitment and talent management
  • Solid understanding of HR best practices, including employment and human rights legislation
  • A high level of discretion and sound judgement, paired with cultural competency and racial literacy
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with ease
  • Adaptability and versatility; you’re energized by a role that includes a variety of responsibilities and projects
  • Experience with HRIS/Payroll systems, Qualtrics, and Canva (or the ability to learn quickly!)
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams)

Responsibilities

  • Lead Full-Cycle Recruitment: Manage end-to-end hiring, including job postings, screening, interviewing, reference checks, and onboarding
  • Drive Talent Strategy: Build talent pipelines, refine recruitment processes, and stay ahead of market trends and best practices
  • Lead a Growth, Development, and Retention Strategy: Strengthen career pathways, enhance engagement, analyze turnover trends, and recommend practical solutions; support fair and transparent performance and advancement processes, and partner with leaders to create a workplace where employees can grow and thrive long-term
  • Collaborate on Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Initiatives: Meaningfully contribute to developing diversification strategies that attract and retain diverse talent
  • Elevate Employer Brand: Support the development and promotion of our Employee Value Proposition (EVP) across recruitment channels
  • Enhance Onboarding: Facilitate engaging orientation programs and onboarding experiences that set new hires up for success
  • Leverage Data & Insights: Support HR and EDI analytics related to retention, turnover, demographics, belonging and employee engagement while ensuring data integrity and privacy
  • Support HR Operations: Maintain HRIS data, coordinate employee events, respond to employment verifications, and manage confidential employee files
  • Be a Trusted Resource: Provide guidance and support to managers and HR colleagues across a range of employee relations matters
