About The Position

The Recruitment & Admissions Manager directly oversees the recruitment and intake of Indigenous learners for all First Nations Technology Council (FNTC) Digital Skills programs, for both online and in-person learning. The Recruitment & Admissions Manager is the first point of contact for applicants looking to start their educational journey with the First Nations Technology Council. From recruitment, admissions and registration, this experienced and passionate individual is responsible for providing Indigenous learners with the information necessary to kick off their learning with goals to pursue a possible future in technology. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Digital Skills Development and Training, the Recruitment & Admissions Manager ensures the overall successful operations of all processes and procedures for the recruitment, application and registration of Indigenous learners. The Recruitment & Admissions Manager must be highly organized and adept in understanding a reduced barrier and strength-based approach to education and learning. This role is responsible for ensuring learners have an accessible and meaningful program admission experience for both internal FNTC Programs, as well as external partner programs with trusted educational institutes. The Recruitment & Admissions Manager also works in parallel with the Student Services team and external educational partners to ensure FNTC graduates are laddering into meaningful and fulfilling educational experiences. Requirements

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a university degree or accredited college diploma in a relevant field (e.g., education, business or public administration, social sciences).
  • Three or more years of experience in an admission and/or recruitment role.
  • Experience in an Indigenous organization is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with Salesforce or proficiency with other educational management software, as well as experience with student data management systems.
  • Class 5 drivers license.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Senior Manager of Digital Skills Development and Training to maintain and provide recommendations to the Digital Skills department’s strategic plan, goals, and objectives, and support the implementation of this plan overall.
  • Oversees and operationalizes all aspects of the admissions student lifecycle, from inquiries, recruitment, application, admission and registration.
  • Operationalizes FNTC's Admissions process and provides recommendations on improvements when and where required.
  • Ensures the complete submission of all student data relevant to admissions and registration prior to program delivery.
  • Communicates admission numbers to Senior Manager of Skills Development and Training prior to program start and generates relevant reports for staff and instructors.
  • Builds student financial support allocations and distributions with FNTC's Finance and Operations team, and ensures all student banking information is collected, protected, and organized for timely distribution.
  • Communicates all course program details to initiate the promotion of programs with FNTC's Communications Department and ensures the website is up to date with relevant information.
  • Provides timely and frequent updates to the Student Services Team regarding upcoming cohorts, and onboards the team to information relating to class size, potential risks, disability/ accessibility needs and more prior to program delivery.
  • Actively attends and participates in team meetings, activities, and manages calendar effectively to support student intake.
  • Provides insight, advice, and identifies risks to leadership on major new initiatives in the areas of recruitment and admissions with respect to annual delivery calendar.
  • Ensures all program deliverables are on time and on budget according to approved project plans.
  • Creates project briefs, project boards, briefing notes, decision notes, and incident reports as needed for the leadership team.
  • Works with the team to build and champion a deep understanding of our recruitment and admissions experience.
  • Supports the Director and Senior Manager of Digital Skills Development and Training in the preparation of project reports for Technology Council stakeholders including quarterly reports to funders.
  • Ensures we are meeting our deliverables associated with filling classes with learners, and is quick to voice any potential risks relating to low admissions numbers.
  • Works with external project and program teams associated with Indigenous Education, to share and promote training and laddering opportunities for FNTC students, and ensures all joint operations are streamlined and accessible for applicants.
  • Possesses willingness and ability to travel into First Nation communities across British Columbia to attend events, conferences, education and career fairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
