Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience (2:1 experience-to-education basis).
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience, including at least 2 years of contemporary full-cycle recruitment.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting specialized, technical, scientific, engineering, operations, or other hard-to-fill professional positions.
  • Experience supporting searches in competitive labor markets.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple complex requisitions while maintaining quality, organization, and responsiveness.
  • Proven ability to partner with hiring managers and leaders in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong project management, organization, prioritization, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Knowledge of HR principles and talent acquisition best practices.
  • Experience developing recruitment strategies using technology, proactive sourcing, and traditional recruiting techniques.
  • Proficiency with applicant tracking systems, recruitment metrics, and Workday or a comparable HRIS.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate a compliance-driven environment.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20–25% during peak recruitment season, including overnight travel.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Uncleared Personal Identity Verification (UPIV) credential.

  • Bachelor's degree with 10 or more years of related experience, including 5 or more years of contemporary full-cycle recruitment.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a strategic talent advisor, influencing hiring strategy, and partnering with senior leaders on complex or specialized searches.
  • Experience recruiting scientists, engineers, technicians, skilled trades, research support professionals, or other highly specialized technical talents.
  • Experience leading recruitment initiatives, mentoring recruiters, or driving continuous improvement efforts.
  • Experience within a federal contractor or other highly regulated environment.
  • Experience supporting government, academic, research, or other mission-driven organizations.
  • Experience working in highly matrixed or consensus-based organizations.
  • Master's degree and/or professional HR certification

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted talent advisor to hiring managers throughout the recruitment lifecycle.
  • Consult on position scope, candidate profiles, labor market conditions, compensation considerations, and recruitment strategies.
  • Translate highly technical requirements into effective sourcing strategies and compelling outreach.
  • Provide data-driven insights and professional judgment to support hiring decisions.
  • Build strong collaborative partnerships across Human Resources and client organizations.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for scientific, engineering, technical, skilled trades, and operational positions.
  • Develop proactive sourcing strategies and build diverse talent pipelines for specialized and difficult-to-fill roles.
  • Manage multiple concurrent searches while maintaining exceptional organization, communication, and candidate experience.
  • Approach searches as structured projects by establishing recruitment plans, identifying risks, setting priorities, and proactively managing stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with federal contractor requirements and established recruitment practices.
  • Utilize recruiting metrics and qualitative feedback to improve sourcing effectiveness and candidate outcomes.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency, compliance, and the overall hiring experience.
  • Deliver a high-touch, transparent, and respectful candidate experience.
  • Effectively communicate Brookhaven's mission and value proposition to prospective candidates.
  • Build lasting relationships within scientific, engineering, technical, and operational talent communities.
  • Represent Brookhaven professionally through networking, outreach, and recruitment events.
  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn complex scientific and technical disciplines.
  • Navigate ambiguity with sound judgment and thoughtful decision-making.
  • Adapt recruitment strategies as organizational priorities and labor market conditions evolve.

  • Lead the Laboratory's most complex, specialized, and mission-critical recruitment searches.
  • Influence recruitment strategy by providing labor market intelligence, workforce insights, and data-driven recommendations.
  • Lead Talent Acquisition projects and process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, consistency, compliance, and the candidate experience.
  • Mentor team members and share recruiting best practices to strengthen organizational capability.
  • Build and cultivate strategic external partnerships and talent pipelines within scientific, engineering, and technical communities.
  • Represent Talent Acquisition on cross-functional initiatives and contribute to the ongoing evolution of Brookhaven's recruitment strategy.
  • Identify and lead opportunities to improve recruiting processes, leverage data to inform decision-making, and help shape the evolution of Brookhaven's Talent Acquisition strategy.
