The Recruiter I is responsible for supporting high-volume, frontline hiring across Odyssey House programs. This role focuses on sourcing, screening, and moving candidates through the recruitment process for entry-level and essential operational roles that support day-to-day client care and program operations. Reporting to the Talent Operations Manager, this position partners closely with hiring managers and the Talent/Onboarding team to ensure a fast, consistent, and high-quality candidate experience. The Recruiter I plays a critical role in maintaining staffing levels in high-need areas by managing open requisitions efficiently and ensuring strong communication throughout the hiring process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in recruiting, HR, customer service, sales, or high-volume coordination roles preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage candidates and hiring managers professionally and effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple open roles and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable using ATS systems and learning new recruiting tools quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team structure.
  • Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of required pre-employment screenings, which may include background checks, fingerprinting, applicable sex offender registry screenings for Adult Residential roles, and other position-related verifications.
  • Roles requiring driving are subject to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review and valid Utah driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high-volume recruiting, healthcare, behavioral health, or nonprofit environments.
  • Familiarity with sourcing techniques and candidate pipeline development.
  • Experience using ATS platforms such as Paylocity, Workday, ADP, UKG, or BambooHR.
  • Interest in long-term career growth within Talent Acquisition or People Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Source candidates through job boards, referrals, community outreach, and other recruiting channels for high-volume, frontline roles.
  • Review applications and conduct initial phone screenings to assess qualifications, interest, and role fit.
  • Manage a high volume of open requisitions with urgency and attention to candidate experience.
  • Coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring managers, ensuring timely scheduling and follow-up.
  • Maintain consistent communication with candidates throughout the hiring process.
  • Extend verbal offers within approved compensation guidelines and coordinate with onboarding for formal offer processing.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, job requirements, and role expectations.
  • Provide updates on candidate pipelines, market feedback, and potential hiring challenges.
  • Support intake discussions for new or recurring positions to ensure clarity on requirements and priorities.
  • Build strong, responsive working relationships with program leaders and department managers.
  • Develop and maintain candidate pipelines for high-need and frequently hired positions.
  • Utilize proactive sourcing strategies to improve applicant flow and reduce time-to-fill.
  • Re-engage past applicants and build talent pools for recurring roles.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Ensure timely progression of candidates through each stage of the hiring process.
  • Track requisition status and report delays or barriers to the Talent Manager.
  • Coordinate closely with the Onboarding Coordinator to ensure smooth transition from offer acceptance to onboarding.
  • Ensure all required hiring details (start date, compensation, job details) are accurately communicated.
  • Support continuous improvement of recruiting and hiring workflows.
  • Follow all hiring policies, compensation guidelines, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of recruiting practices across all roles.
  • Maintain confidentiality of candidate and organizational information at all times.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sourcing effectiveness, hiring speed, and candidate experience.
  • Provide feedback on job postings, candidate quality, and market trends.
  • Support recruitment projects and hiring initiatives as assigned by the Talent Manager.
