About The Position

The HR Generalist supports the human resources function of the Shriners Children's Research Institute (SCRI) by providing guidance to managers and staff relating to applicable operating policies and procedures; recruitment, compensation, departmental consulting, training and development, benefit administration and employee relations. Shriners Children’s Research Institute (SCRI) is a newly established research organization designed to advance translational science and accelerate innovation in pediatric medicine. Located in Atlanta, Georgia's Science Square innovation district, SCRI will occupy a 150,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility focused on tissue engineering, genomics, movement science, artificial intelligence, clinical informatics, augmented reality, and biomanufacturing. By leveraging Shriners Children’s global network of pediatric specialists, hospitals, and outreach clinics, SCRI aims to transform groundbreaking research into clinical solutions that improve children's health worldwide. This position is on-site, candidates must reside in Atlanta, Georgia.

Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or Related Field
3+ years of HR Generalist/Recruitment experience

Nice To Haves

3+ years HR experience in a research/healthcare setting
PHR/SPHR certification

Responsibilities

Partner with research, scientific, operational, and administrative leaders to develop workforce strategies that support the growth and long-term objectives of the Research Institute.
Lead full-cycle recruitment activities for scientific, technical, administrative, and professional positions, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer development, and onboarding.
Develop and execute innovative talent acquisition strategies to attract highly specialized research talent in areas including genomics, translational science, tissue engineering, artificial intelligence, clinical informatics, and biomanufacturing.
Build and maintain relationships with universities, research institutions, professional associations, and industry partners to establish strong candidate pipelines.
Support workforce planning initiatives by analyzing hiring trends, labor market conditions, talent availability, and organizational growth projections.
Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on employee relations, performance management, organizational effectiveness, and workplace concerns.
Coach leaders on employee engagement, talent development, performance improvement, and conflict resolution.
Support investigations and resolution of employee relations matters, ensuring consistency, fairness, and compliance with organizational policies and employment regulations.
Partner with leaders to foster a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive culture that supports scientific excellence and organizational growth.
Assist management in implementing organizational changes and workforce initiatives associated with a growing research enterprise.
Support the implementation of performance management processes that promote accountability, innovation, and professional growth.
Assist leaders in identifying learning, development, and career advancement opportunities for research and operational staff.
Coordinate onboarding programs that accelerate integration, engagement, and productivity of new employees.
Support talent development strategies for critical scientific, research, and leadership positions.
Partner with leadership to establish programs that strengthen employee engagement, retention, and organizational culture.
Partner with Compensation to evaluate new and existing positions, conduct market analyses, and develop competitive salary recommendations.
Assist with the creation and maintenance of job descriptions, career frameworks, and organizational structures that support institute growth.
Analyze workforce metrics, turnover trends, recruitment outcomes, and employee engagement data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Provide reporting and workforce insights to support strategic decision-making and organizational planning.
Serve as a resource to employees regarding benefits, retirement programs, leave administration, and HR policies and procedures.
Support annual enrollment activities and employee wellness initiatives.
Ensure HR records, position documentation, and personnel data are maintained accurately and in compliance with organizational standards.
Participate in the development and implementation of HR programs, policies, and processes appropriate for a growing startup environment.
Help establish scalable HR practices and infrastructure that support future organizational growth.
Partner with institute leadership to support compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations as well as applicable research-related workforce requirements.
Coordinate HR-related support for grant-funded positions, research staffing requirements, and institutional compliance initiatives.
Assist with workforce compliance activities related to training, certifications, occupational health, and applicable regulatory standards.
Support audit readiness and documentation requirements associated with research operations and institutional growth.
Monitor emerging employment and workforce trends impacting research organizations and recommend appropriate HR responses.
Help build and promote the employer brand of the Research Institute as a premier destination for research, innovation, and scientific discovery.
Develop and coordinate employee engagement, recognition, and community-building initiatives that reinforce organizational values.
Partner with leadership to create an employee experience that supports collaboration, innovation, inclusion, and mission-driven work.
Support programs that enhance employee retention and position the Institute as an employer of choice within the research community.
Assist with special projects and initiatives associated with the continued growth and evolution of the Research Institute.
