This position supervises Recreational Behavioral Instructors (RBIs) and assists in maintaining the department budget and ordering necessary supplies. The role involves performing departmental audits, in-servicing RBIs, and serving as a Recreation representative on hospital committees. The supervisor plans and implements therapeutic recreation activities for clients, focusing on promoting self-confidence, independence, activities of daily living, and problem resolution. Responsibilities include maintaining client charts, records, and files, staying informed about relevant standards and regulations, and assisting with discharge plans. The role requires adherence to policies and procedures, compliance with Department of Health, Medicaid, and The Joint Commission standards, and attendance at staff and treatment team meetings. The position also involves taking advantage of professional growth opportunities and in-service training. Physically, the role requires the capability to restrain clients if necessary (with training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention), provide care and supervision, implement individualized behavioral plans of care using the Teaching-Family Model, and ensure adequate staffing and materials for outings. Maintaining order and cleanliness of Recreational Therapy areas, planning and attending outings, and performing other related tasks as requested are also key duties. The role requires the physical capability to perform tasks such as hiking and swimming.
