About The Position

AvaMed Workforce is a Healthcare Staffing Agency that staffs all of California State Correctional Facilities. At the moment we are in URGENT need of a Recreational Therapist to take on a Full-Time assignment at the correctional facility located in Wasco, CA. This position involves developing and implementing specialized recreation therapy services for Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth. These interventions aim to promote social interaction, encourage beneficial leisure time utilization, and prepare patients for reentry into general population or other treatment levels. The role also includes participating in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and coordinating services with primary clinicians, correctional counselors, and other custody personnel. A key responsibility is evaluating recreation therapy needs, focusing on activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.

Requirements

• Must be Certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
• Must have 1 Full-Year of experience as a licensed CTRS

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement specialized recreation therapy services to Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth.
