About The Position

AvaMed Workforce is a Healthcare Staffing Agency that staffs all of California State Correctional Facilities. At the moment we are in URGENT need of a Recreational Therapist to take on a Full-Time assignment at the correctional facility located in Delano, CA. This role involves developing and implementing specialized recreation therapy services to Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth. These therapeutic interventions are designed to promote social interaction, encourage beneficial and appropriate utilization of leisure time, and provide Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth with preparation for reentry into general population or other levels of treatment. The Recreational Therapist will also participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and coordinate services with primary clinicians, correctional counselors, and other custody personnel. Additionally, they will evaluate recreation therapy needs for Patients-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth, focusing on activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.

Requirements

• Must be Certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
• Must have 1 Full-Year of experience as a licensed CTRS
